A tip for local levels: THE ACTIVE FIVE YEARS

We often hear so many criticisms that the people’s representatives lack clear vision and execution of their commitment. The last five years taught us the local level people’s representatives could do so many things for their people in their region. We found very less local levels doing well and exemplary deeds but most of them got entangled in dispute. Most of the local levels couldn’t keep them free from contradiction and conflict in different matters.  This could all be because of their lacking knowledge and skills and unavailability of dedication and loyalty towards the public. 

We people in the country appear culturally and structurally accustomed to not following the systems and some being habituated on corruption practices. These five years have given us a big lesson that there must be well qualified and dedicated representatives to be elected. An idea of ‘THE ACTIVE FIVE YEARS’ for the local level’s newly elected people’s representatives have been presented here along with the slight descriptions. This idea includes the development pillars that the newly elected people’s representatives shouldn’t miss.

‘THE ACTIVE FIVE YEARS’

T=Tourism: Tourism is backbone of the development. This is for creating job opportunities and for enhancing the social, religious, cultural aspects of the city or village. That’s why; the newly elected people’s representatives should plan on creating and promoting tourism in the country. 

H=Health: Health deals with life process of the people. This is essential to ensure the people’s right to live. 

Because of the lack of the health services, people are forced to move to different places. On the other hand, health is one of the infrastructures of the development. Without good health services, the country can’t produce healthy workers.

E=Education: There doesn’t need much more explanation for education. We all know that only the educated men change the world. This is the light of the society. There must be good way to educate the children. Only the physical infrastructures are getting priority at schools and the qualitative part has been in the shadow. Implementation of the curriculum should be the prime concern in education. Programs on educating the teachers and parents should be brought.  

A=Agriculture: As the agriculture is only the food source of the world, it should be in the top priority of your municipality or rural municipality. At least, try to be independent in agriculture during your five years of tenure. If you reach on exports, that will be nicer. People of your region will be self-reliant.

C=Cultural village/city: Culture depicts people’s life style and the way of living. Culture is the mirror of the society. You shouldn’t forget to include the parts of cultural development in your planning paper. This can be one of the chief causes of tourism development in your area.  

T=Transportation: Transportation is key to development. Without this, no development works can be done. The road network can only make possible of other development works. This makes people feel the prosperity and development. At least, you should make main roads fit to be driven all the times; even in the monsoon. And there must be easy access of road network to the nearest market of your place.

I=Industrialization: This is an act of establishing the industries. This creates more opportunities of employment and the goods and commodities can be bought in cheap prices. This is also the main activity to turn the village into city. This enhances the income of the people. People can sell or produce raw materials required for the industries. 

V=Viral Marketing: The concept of viral marketing is a network based marketing of local products, touristic places, food and culture and also the marketing of good practices you do. This helps you to publicize the products of your area and becomes one of the chief ideas to attract the tourists.  

E=Elders, Children, Disabled, Disadvantaged and Single man and Women: These people need the state all the time. The government body should present themselves with these people because these people need proper care and guardianship. Social security is very big issue in the present world as this is an essential aspect of human right. You must make different supporting, uplifting and protecting platforms to these people under social security program. 

F=Fine Governance: Fine governance refers to the good governance. This deals on how public intuitions under government bodies provide services to their public and manage resources. It ensures transparency, human rights, corruption control, responsiveness, fairness and inclusiveness, effectiveness and efficiency. The realization of prosperity and development comes at when there is fine governance.

I=Inclusiveness and Involvement: The state’s service flow and any the development works must be inclusive and people should involve in the development works. People of all the religion, castes, level; disabled, disadvantaged and different places should have equal access to the state. And to make the people feel of ownership of any development works, they must be involved in the development works. That’s why; inclusiveness and involvement are keys to equal development of all level of people. This is one of the beautiful sides of democracy.  

V=Visit People:  This shouldn’t be missed to include in the action plan. This idea is just for spending time with the people mainly the selected families at least once a week or two families in a month. To be clearer, this can be tea time, lunch time or dinner time spending some hours with the individuals. Poor or disabled families and families having faced discrimination should be in the prime priority list.  This conception provides the opportunities to the people’s representatives to feel the people’s daily life and to see how they have been struggling for life.

E=Employment: Employment must be included in your planning list as it is an important part of the economic, social and environmental development process. This is one of the major elements of people’s prosperity. Employment in the local level reduces youths’ disappearance to the overseas and helps to remove crimes. The major areas of employment opportunities are transportation, tourism, agriculture, education, banking and insurance, advertisements, distribution, communications, packaging, advisory services, stock and produce, digital Marketing, event management, entertainment, call centers, accounting and reporting activities, safety and security etc. Employment Resource Centre can be very advantageous.

Y=Youth and Sports: As youths are pillars of the nation, they must be paid much attention with different sorts of programs. Youth everyday returning in the black coffins through the airport is very dark part of our nation. This is all because our youths are not skilled and trained and they are forced to work at very dangerous job sides. Youth empowerment program is very essential in the local level. Career counseling, skill development training, self-reliance programs should be done. Villages lack youths. There are only children and old people in the villages. If the youths are taught with skills and ideas, they will not have to go to abroad. Youths are sources of energy and only they can work for changes of the society and the nation.

Sports are associated with physical mental and social well-being of the people.  This is also associated with national prestige. Professionalism on sports has made huge contribution in the improvement of national economy. It has made great contribution in the economy. This also gives elegance, value and prestige. Sports introduce your place. Sports activate the human mind and body and makes physically fit and stimulates positive attitude.

E= Energy Supply and Consumption: Production and preparation of fuel, generation of electricity, energy transport and energy consumption can be put under this development model. It is a basic part of economic activity. But local levels lack with minimum energy for regular lights at home. So, this should be ensured at first.  Without energy, many other development works cannot be done. This is the sign of prosperity and is linked with all other infrastructure of the development.

A=Atmosphere and Environment: Atmosphere is the part of environment.  Protection of atmosphere and environment is support to save our home; the earth, community and economy. Environment provides home for all living creatures and ecosystems, permitting them to grow and flourish. The existence of all the creatures will be at risk because of global warming and environmental problems caused. Hence, environmental conservation is very important.

R=Research and Technology: Research is done for getting true knowledge and finding sufficient evidences. It glides new ideas and visions and develops the new and creative works. Research is an innovative activity carried out to find the new things or to improve the existing systems. Research is associated with technology. Technologies can be invented through research and there needs different technologies in research. Technology in agriculture, transportation, education, offices, tourism, energy supply and consumption, environment conservation, daily service flow, and in many more places, there is essential role of technology.  

S=Sanitation and Water:  Sanitation and water is essential for our daily life. Sanitation directly links with our health and daily life and water one of the resource for our daily use. The Sanitation and Water program should be for the people in obtaining reasonable, safe, and continual availability to water and sanitation services. The local level should ensure on providing clean water for drinking, cooking and sanitation in order to maintain people’s healthy life and reduce the transmission of various contagious diseases. Public Toilets in the prime areas and waste removal and disposal system are some basic services needed to be provided.
