Pokhara, Sept 1 : Dengue and scrub typhus cases have significantly increased in Birgunj in Parsa. Dengue and scrub typhus patients visit the Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital and private medical facilities each day in want of treatment.

According to Narayani Hospital's senior doctor Dr. Uday Narayan Singh, the Hospital diagnoses positive cases of the diseases almost every day.

As he said, most of the patients are from outside the town. Medical professionals are worried to see the rising cases of the diseases. The hospital lately diagnoses 15-20 cases of dengue and scrubs typhus on a daily basis.

High fever, chills, muscle, body and joint pain, and rash are some common symptoms of the disease, according to Dr. Singh.

Scrub typhus is a mite-borne disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi while dengue is a viral infection caused by a bite from a mosquito called Aedes aegypti. (RSS)
