Wild elephants destroy seven houses in Dhanusha

Dhalkebar, Sept 6 : Wild elephants destroyed seven houses at Dhalkebar in Mithila Municipality-6, Dhanusha, Sunday night. 

Two elephants coming from the forest destroyed seven houses belonging to Manraj Mahato, Suresh Mahato, and Dilip Mahato and ate the grains stored inside the houses, said Police Inspector Ram Sagar Singh of the Area Police Office Dhalkebar.

The wild elephants that entered the village at 1 am destroyed four houses in Naya Tole and three houses in Khane Pani Tyanki Tole.

According to Binod Thakur, a local, they destroyed the roof of the houses and ate the grains. 

When the elephants, which arrived in the settlement from the eastern side, started destroying the houses of the new village, the villagers got together and chased them away by lighting fire and banging dishes.

Then the elephants moved towards Paschim Tole from Naya Tole and destroyed three houses. Thakur said that later the elephants fled towards the forest in the north.
