Inaruwa, Nov 29: Vote counting that was adjourned in Sunsari constituency-4 since last Saturday has begun from today.

Vote counting has resumed immediately after an all-party meeting at Bhagawati secondary school in Sunsari district headquarter Inaruwa-1.

A dispute was resulted when employees deputed for vote count had added 606 votes in favour of CPN (UML) candidate. Nepali Congress central member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki had demanded re-count after the counting process was postponed due to the dispute.

However, the Election Commission (EC) did not respond to the demand of Karki, also the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, and directed the district election office on Monday evening to resume vote count as it was.

Vote count has resumed after today's all-party meeting decided to count votes under CCTV monitoring to keep election peaceful and impartial, shared Chief Returning Officer Arjun Adhikari.

As per the latest vote count updates, NC candidate Karki has maintained the lead by 162 votes. He obtained 23,726 while his close contender Jagadish Prasad Kusiyat received 23,604. (RSS)
