Students exhibit their science, maths products in Suryodaya

By Prem Adhikari,Pashupatinagar, Jan. 4: A three-day Science and Math Exhibition organised by Suryodaya Municipality, a local level in Ilam that has bene prioritising digital-friendly education, has concluded successfully.

It was a first-of-its-kind exhibition organised by Suryodaya Municipality as it had organised exhibitions related to only science, not math, until last year.  

The exhibition was organised under “Twelve months, twelve academic programmes” of the municipality.

“More than 500 students from 46 community and private schools in the municipality had prepared 158 different items for the exhibition,” said Yoginidhi Bhattarai, chief of Education, Youth and Sports Division in the municipality.

The exhibition was organised with the main motto of “Practical education, experiential learning, Suryodaya Municipality’s first choice” under the division’s leadership.

“Students participated in the exhibition with joy and showcased quality ideas and items they prepared.

It showed their activeness and how much they have learned by themselves through technology,” added Bhattarai. The exhibition was visited by more than 3,000 individuals daily for three days. During the concluding ceremony of the exhibition, schools securing first, second and third places in different categories were awarded Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 in cash respectively.

In the primary level’s “science category”, Karphok Vidyamandir Secondary School secured the first place. Jyoti Secondary School and Sunrise English School secured the second and third place respectively.

Likewise, Karphok Vidyamandir School also secured the first place in “math category” of primary level. Karphok was followed by Phikkal Secondary School and Narbada Kalyan English School. 

In the secondary-level’s “science category”, Phikkal School won the first place and was followed by Everland International Academy and Panchakanya Boarding School. 

Similarly, Herohal Academy secured the first place in “science category” in the secondary level, and was followed by Krishnashram Secondary School. 

Students had created different items, including rocket, volcano, dozer, hydraulic items, boat, tunnel, and binocular among others. 

The Bohr Model of Plutonium was also prepared by students.  

The municipality informed that more than Rs. 1 million was spent to organise the three-day exhibition.
