Three policemen suspended after detainees' escape

By Our Correspondent,Dhalkebar, Feb. 1: Three policemen have been suspended after six detainees escaped from the custody of the Mahendranagar Area Police Office in Dhanusha. 

Suman Timilsina, Spokesperson for the Province Police, said that detention cell officer Ashok Mandal, police constable Saroj Regmi and follower Rohan Magar were suspended from the service.

Similarly, the entire police team, including the in-charge, Inspector of the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, Bechan Yadav, has been pulled back to the district. 

Assistant Inspector of Police Mukti Narayan Choudhary has been sent to Mahendranagar Area Police as its in-charge for the time being.

Police Inspector and in-charge Yadav has not been relieved from his position. Spokesperson Timilsina informed that after the investigation, a decision would  be taken on Yadav’s fate.

Meanwhile, the police have managed to arrest one of the six detainees who absconded from the custody of the Mahendranagar Area Police Office. Roshan Mahato was arrested.

Mahato was arrested on Monday evening from a relative's house at Kusumbichhauna, Mithila Municipality-8 in the district, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pradip Bahadur Chhetri, Spokesperson for District Police Office, Dhanusha.

A case of possessing illegal weapons is pending against Mahato. He was arrested last Thursday with the weapons and was made public only on Saturday by organising a press conference.

Shankar, who was arrested together in the same crime, and four others held on various cases, are still absconding. 

The absconding detainees include Binod Kumar Sharma, Amit Mandal, Roshan Yadav, Harideep Singh and Shankar Singh. The police informed that the search for them is going on rapidly.

Six detainees had escaped by breaking the wall of the custody cell of the Mahendranagar Area Police Office at 3: 00 am on Sunday.  The District Police Office and the Provincial Police Office have formed separate investigation committees to investigate into the incident.

Province Police Office has formed its committee under the coordination of SSP Manoj Kumar Yadav, while District Police Office Dhanusha has formed a 5-member investigation committee under the coordination of DSP Chhetri.
