Rukum festival resumes after 4-year gap

By Our Correspondent,Rukum West, Mar. 11: Practice of organising trade and cultural festival has resumed in Musikot, the district headquarters of Rukum West, after a gap of four years. 

“Rukum Agriculture, Tourism, Trade and Cultural Festival” has begun  at Barahtakura of Musikot Municipality-1 on Friday. 

The festival was organised by National Folk Duet Academy, Rukum West, in collaboration with the Art Culture and Tourism Promotion Forum, Rukum West with the slogan of” Rukum West foundation of prosperity: Art culture, tourism development and industrial trade”.

Mayor of Musikot Municipality Mahendra KC inaugurated the festival amidst a function on Friday.

Mayor KC said that the festival should be made successful for the development, protection and promotion of art and culture.

He said that fairs and festivals should regularly be organised for the promotion of local businesses and tourism.

According to Dilli Pariyar, coordinator of the main organising committee of the festival, the festival will promote the agriculture, tourism, trade and cultural activities of the district.

The festival, which will continue for 12 days, will feature performances by national artists with live performances every day, and exhibitions of local art and culture.

Similarly, there are 100 stalls in the festival.

Tul Devkota, district president of the National Folk Duet Academy, Rukum West, informed that domestic and agricultural products and promotional materials of the local tourist destinations would be displayed in the festival.

No festival has been organised in the district since 2019 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
