Lalitpur assists Bhimeshwor for heritage conservation

By A Staff Reporter,Lalitpur, Mar. 26: The Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) of Lalitpur district has extended financial support to the Bhimeshwor Municipality of Dolakha district to help the latter conserve its heritage. 

As per a statement issued by the metropolitan, LMC Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan handed over a cheque of Rs. 3.5 million to Bhimeshwor Mayor Ishwor Narayan Manandhar amidst a programme organised at Charikot on Friday.

At the programme, Maharjan highlighted the various works LMC has done for the benefit of its citizens through heritage conservation, the installation of smart street lights, and the construction of cycle lanes, among others. He also outlined health and education as priority areas for his metropolis.

Similarly, Manandhar said that, despite there being differences between Lalitpur and Bhimeshwor, the two cities shared similar sentiments, feelings, culture, and traditions. He also stated that his city had a lot to learn from Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, the two cities have also set up a mechanism to exchange experiences and best practices in the fields of culture, literature, and history.

Named the literature-culture corridor, the mechanism includes representatives from both LMC and Bhimeshwor. 

According to the statement, Raju Maharjan, the metro's spokesperson and coordinator of its Social Development Committee; Chandra Maharjan, coordinator of the Infrastructure Development Committee; Nirmal Tandukar, chairman of Ward No. 1; Babu Raja Maharjan, the mayor's political advisor and Sagar Thapa, head of the metro's Administrative Division, are present from Lalitpur. And from Bhimeshwor, Spokesperson Taranath Chaulagain; Stalin Shrestha, coordinator of the municipality's Social Development Committee; Hari Sharan Shivakoti; chairman of Ward No. 3 and employees Arjun Karki and Suresh Raut are present in the body.

Lalitpur and Bhimeshwor established sisterly relations with each other last year.
