Jeewan becomes first Ranatharu to obtain PhD degree

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Dhangadhi, Jun1: Jeewan Rana from Dhangadhi in Kailali has become the first person of the Ranatharu community, an indigenous tribe of Nepal, to acquire a PhD degree. 

She received her degree from Nepal Sanskrit University in Beljhundi of Dang. She had submitted a thesis on 'Socio-Cultural Life of Ranatharu' in the English language.

Ranatharu community found only in Kailali and Kanchanpur is very backward in the education sector. For them, a PhD degree is a great achievement.  

Rana associated with the Nepali Congress is also involved in various social organisations. 

She has been advocating for economic, social, cultural and educational development of the Ranatharu community.
