Nepal clinch T20I Women’s Bilateral Series

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 5: Nepal clinched the title of the T20I Women's Bilateral Series 3-2 after registering a three-wicket victory in the last match in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Nepal successfully chased the target of 110 runs posted by the host losing seven wickets with four balls to spare. 

Opener Sita Rana Magar scored the highest 34 runs in the chase. She slammed six balls to the fences off 37 balls. Captain Rubina Chhetry Belbashi chipped in 23 runs off 30 balls that included three boundaries. Jyoti Pandey remained not out on the crease with 16-ball 11.  

Ainna Hamizah Hashim grabbed two wickets for the host Malaysia.

Earlier, Malaysia managed to collect 109 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. 

Opener Wan Julia scored the highest 47 runs off 60 balls for Malaysia. Her opening partner Winifred Duraisingam collected 24 runs off 25 balls that included four boundaries.

Mahirah Izzati was another double-digit contributor with 20 runs off 31 balls. Kabita Joshi dismissed two batters for the winning side.

Captain Rubina was declared the Most Valuable Player of the Series for her all-around performance. She scored 81 runs and claimed five wickets in the series. 

Similarly, Winifred of Malaysia was declared the best batter of the series. She scored 102 runs. Nik Nur lifted the best bowler trophy for finishing with six wickets.

Earlier, Malaysia defeated Nepal in the first and fourth matches by five wickets and four wickets respectively. Nepal notched up a five-wicket victory in the second match and registered a 27-run narrow win in the third match.
