Ranjha (Banke), Sept 27: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet today said there would be no problem of electricity to run industries.
In a meeting organised here by the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the minister said the 132 kV Kohalpur-Nepalgunj transmission line would be constructed and operated to resolve the long-standing problem of electricity in Banke.
"To resolve the power problem here, the construction of the 132kV Nepalgunj-Kohalpur transmission line has started today. The electricity problem here will be resolved following the completion of the project," he said. Following the completion of the project, industries will be able to come into full operation along with problems ranging from low voltage to electricity outages being resolved, he expressed hope.
In Nepalgunj, industrialists are facing a hard time due to the problem of low voltage and power outages.
The project is being started to resolve the electricity problem in industries, said the minister.
Similarly, the President of the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tanka Dhami stressed the need for the timely completion of the project to resolve the electricity problem in Nepalgunj.
He also drew the attention of concerned authorities to the trend of delaying a hydropower project for a long time thus creating problems.
Although the opening of industries and factories in Banke district had been increasing lately, local industrialists and businesspersons were facing a problem due to a lack of infrastructure including electricity, Dhami said.
He on behalf of the Nepalgunj CCI also submitted a memorandum to Minister Basnet to address the problem facing Nepalgunj industrialists. (RSS)
