By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr 3: The Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Jwala Kumari Sah said that the government is preparing to make a policy to modernize agriculture.
Addressing the program ‘Maize Summit’ organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister Sah said that after paddy, maize is the second largest produced crop in the country.
She said that the government is planning to modernize agriculture in such a way that corn production gets encouragement and the real farmers get recognition, encouragement, and compassion.
Minister Sah, said, “Corn is the second largest crop produced in the country after paddy. Not only farmers but the general public will also benefit and get enthusiastic if we can modernize agriculture in such a way that corn production gets encouragement and the real farmers get recognition, encouragement, and compassion.”
She said, “The situation of the corn is rather devastating and on the verge of collapsing. The production of maize is decreasing significantly. I am leading a process of making a modernized agriculture policy. The programs to encourage and increase the maize plantation in the country are being incorporated in an agriculture policy that the government is currently preparing.”
