By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 3: A photo exhibition titled ‘Mitrata’ was inaugurated at the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, on Friday.

The 14-day photo exhibition is organised from august 3 to 16 to celebrate 50 years of friendship between the European Union and Nepal.

The four photographers were selected through a competition.

To commemorate 50 years of relations between Nepal and the EU, the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal held a competition to select four young Nepali photographers and assigned them to develop their vision of the friendship between the European Union and Nepal through photography.

They captured photos on the theme of ‘friendship’ in various locations in Nepal. During the inaugurating ceremony, Ishan Tiwari was selected as the winner. Likewise, Sushila Bishwakarma, Rabik Upadhayay and Aakriti Shrestha became second, third and fourth respectively.

The exhibition showcases the strong people-to-people relations between the European Union and Nepal, highlighting how diplomatic relations are rooted in mutual respect, shared values and collaborative spirit.

Speaking at the programme Veronique Lorenzo, Ambassador to the European Union, said that sometimes an image was more powerful than 1,000 words. The works of the four youth photographers portray the strong bond between the European Union and Nepal.

The project is organised by the European Union Delegation to Nepal in collaboration with Nepal Art Council.
