Home Minister directs APF Nepal to remain prepared for disaster response

Kurintar (Chitwan), May 21: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed the Armed Police Force Nepal to remain prepared for response to monsoon-induced disaster.     

Concluding the diving training organised at APF Nepal, Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar, on Wednesday, Home Minister Lekhak asked the trainees to involve in service of the people, who are in difficulties, wholeheartedly utilizing skill gained in course of training.     

 He stressed the need of involvement in disaster risk mitigation by coordinating and collaborating with three-tier of governments.     

Pointing out the need of making the local and province governments competent enough to mitigate the risks, he mentioned that all security bodies and local levels should join hands in protecting life of the citizens at risks, and in relief and reconstruction.     

Similarly, Minister for Forest and Environment of Bagmati Province, Krishna Prasad Silwal, lauded the contribution of APF personnel and employees in rescuing the citizens even by putting their lives at risk.  

Likewise, Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi opined that such type of training helps produce skilled human resources needed during a disaster.     

Inspector General of the APF Nepal, Raju Aryal, clarified that the organisation has always been giving priority to rescue the citizens who are in difficulties, for their relief and safety.     

On the occasion, Home Minister Lekhak visited 'Disaster Management Record and Exhibition Centre'.     

A total of 20 APF personnel had participated in the six-week training.     (RSS)
