Kathmandu, May 25: Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Hitendra Dev Shakya inspected the Koshi Provincial Offices and Grid Division for making an arrangement for regular, reliable and quality electricity supply.

According to the NEA, during the inspection, MD Shakya held discussions in Biratnagar with the heads of distribution centres under the Nepal Electricity Authority Koshi Provincial Office, heads of the Grid Division, and the heads of projects operating in the region and directed them to provide regular, reliable, and quality electricity supply to the citizens.

He directed them to provide complaint-free services by giving high priority to the service recipients.

He also listened to the complaints of the employees working at the Duhabi Grid, Inaruwa Substation, under-construction Barju Substation, and Biratnagar, Rangeli, and Itahari distribution centres during the inspection.

He warned the employees to work according to the wishes and needs of the service recipients with strict discipline and to perform their work in a manner that prevents electrical accidents.

MD Shakya held discussion with the business entrepreneurs in Biratnagar for the smooth supply of electricity and other issues related to the entrepreneurs.

During the discussion, businessmen expected service delivery with respect as the Electricity Authority and the service recipients are complementary to each other.

They said that they were committed to helping resolve the dispute over dedicated and tank lines, but the Authority should also show fair behaviour.

Stating that there is a need for regular, reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply, Shakya expressed his commitment to work towards that by formulating a medium-term and long-term plan.

He shared an idea of creating an environment for maximum domestic electricity consumption by constructing large reservoir projects and upgrading the transmission and distribution system and contributing to the prosperity of Nepal by exporting the surplus electricity.

On the occasion, Shakya honoured ten provincial-level consumers under the Koshi Province who consumed the highest volume of electricity last year and paid regular tariffs.
