3rd national convention of accounting professionals being held this week

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 17:  The 3rd National Convention of Accounting Professionals will be held in the capital from Thursday (April 18, 2024). 

A two-day convention is going to be organised by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), the regulatory body of chartered accountants. 

According to Sujan Kumar Kafle, president of the ICAN, there will be a presentation and in-depth discussion on the development of Nepal's accounting system, international practices and future reforms. 

He said that more than 1,000 accountants are expected to participate in the convention. 

Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari is scheduled to inaugurate the convention which will be held at Nepal Academy. On the first day of the convention, there will be three discussion sessions apart from the opening session on Thursday. 

Likewise, on the second and last day, Friday, there will be a discussion session on sustainable business strategies of small and medium businesses, regulation with cooperation, and efficiency enhancement of professional services.

ICAN has been working on the development of CA education in Nepal and the regulation of its members. ICAN, which is taking initiatives to create a separate post for accountants in government agencies, is also going to raise this issue with priority during the convention, said the organiser.

Kafle said that setting the minimum fee for the work of accountants and reviewing the quality of the work if they work at a low fee will also be discussed in the conference. It is said that accounting professionals from all over the country will participate in the conference.
