Saru Bhakta receives Hemraj Pahari Memorial Award

By Our Correspondent,Lekhanath, Apr.20: Playwright, novelist, songwriter and poet Saru Bhakta was awarded the prestigious Hemraj Pahari Memorial Award of 2080. 

He was awarded the honour with a cash prize of Rs.100,000.

Saru Bhakta, a former chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Academy, has been active in Nepali literature for over five decades, with more than four dozen of his works published.

 Expressing his pride, Sarubhakta acknowledged the honour bestowed upon him, particularly appreciating the recognition named after his mentor, Guru Pahari.

Established in memory of writer and social activist Hemraj Pahari, the Hemraj Pahari Memorial Foundation has honoured various personalities including Satya Mohan Joshi, Bimal Gurung Library, Rapti Sahitya Parishad, folk poet Ali Miya, and Sahitya Sandhya. 

The foundation is dedicated to preserving Pahari’s legacy, promoting his contributions to Nepali literature, and supporting literary endeavours.

Pahari’s literary works, including song collections, poetic compilations, and essays, have been published under the foundation’s efforts.
