By Our Correspondent,Gulmi, Apr. 27: The residents of Gulmi have performed Bhume Puja, a nature worship ritual to please the rain god after the crops, vegetables and fruits planted in their fields started drying up due to the prolonged drought.  There has been no rainfall in the district for a long time, so the people of Madane Rural Municiplaity-1 worshipped Bhume of Jhatabang at Nipane seeking rainfall in the district.

Like in the past, this year too, the locals have demanded rain by worshipping Bhume, as there is a belief that it rains after the locals perform the ritual worship of the deity Bhume of Jhatabang.

Agnidhar Chand Bohora, a local social worker, said that the two Bhumethans are located at Gaba and Jhatabang. It is customary to perform puja on the second Tuesday of Baishakh month every year at Bhumethan of Jhatabang.  There is a custom of sacrificing he-goats on the second Tuesday of the month of Baisakh every year in Bhumesthan of Jhatabang. This year too, the locals sacrificed a goat to please the rain god to end the extended drought in the district.

People believe that it will rain when a goat is sacrificed during the worship. Likewise, it is believed that people's wishes get fulfilled if they worship in the Bhumesthan.
