By Our Correspondent,Pyuthan, Apr. 27: After the repair and upgrading of the road, it has become easier for devotees and tourists to reach Swargadwari, a popular shrine in Pyuthan.

Swargadwari is a famous religious and touristic site in the Lumbini Province. The maintenance of the road leading to Swargadwari has made it easier for both pilgrims and tourists.

Damodar Acharya of Rapti Rural Municipality said that it has become easy to reach the temple because of the improved road conditions.

Currently, maintenance and adequate safety measures along the 14km road from Bhingri to Swargadwari has made it easier to reach the site. Bhingri is the base camp of Swargadwari.

According to Acharya, “There are no potholes on the road and even small vehicles can pass easily.” There has been an increase in the number of pilgrims visiting Swargadwari owing to the improved road condition.

Road Division Office Pyuthan (RDO) and Road Infrastructure Development Office Pyuthan (RIDO) have invested millions from the budget of the current fiscal year for road maintenance.

Rajiv Shrestha, Chief Engineer of RDO, Pyuthan, signed a contract of Rs. 89.467 million to take the road security works to its final stage. Traffic signals and railings have been put up for road safety after there was a road accident last year.

The Road Infrastructure and Development Office has been working on the Ghaderi and Rumale sections of Bhingri-Swargadwari road, said Chief Engineer Chandra Bahadur Shah. The road had become narrow by the last year's landslide. The situation has now improved by building a wall to widen the road.

Shah mentioned that Rs.33.1 million has been invested in landslide control, building walls, building railings on roadsides, and the maintenance of the wrecked blacktops. Swargadwari welcomes Hindu devotees from various districts of Nepal and the neighbouring country of India.

It is believed that in 1952, Mahaprabhu lit up a lamp with an intellectual mantra for the Akhand Mahayagya which is still continuously burning.
