Kathmandu, May 8: At least 27 people have lost their lives to fire, forest fire and lightning in the last 24 days.
According to the National Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the fatalities occurred
between April 13 and May 6.
Some 18 people were killed in the
fire, six in the forest fire and three in lightning strikes while 90 were
injured in the incidents, the NDRRMA sources said.
Meanwhile, the Authority has also
approved a procedure to provide financial assistance to the fire victims'
families to build temporary houses. Earlier, such facilities were made
available to the Gorkha earthquake victims.
