By Our Correspondent,Rukum (East), Jan. 30: Consumption of rice has increased in the district. According to the district branch of the Food, Management and Trading Company Limited, the consumption of rice has increased in the district. Before this, there was no branch office of FMTC to sell rice in the district.

After the increase in the consumption of rice, the sale of rice has been started by opening a branch office of FMTC in the district. FMTC established a branch office in Rukumkot last October. Before this, rice was being sold from Shobha Depot and Taksera Depot.

Branch chief Chandra Bahadur Khadka informed that it was easy to distribute rice in the district after establishing a branch there in this fiscal year. The branch has sold 1,500 quintals of rice since October. Paddy grows less in the district.

Khadka said that in the other two municipalities apart from Sisne Rural Municipality, there is a small amount of rice cultivation, so rice is sold a lot.Similarly, the branch has also made a plan to sell rice in villages through cooperatives.

All cooperatives in the district have been requested to sell rice. If the cooperatives make an agreement with the branch of FMTC, they will be allowed to sell rice in the village at the same price as the headquarters.

In this fiscal year, a quota of 3,500 quintals of rice has been determined for the district. At present, different varieties of rice, including steam jeera, sona mansuli, aruwa moto and basmati are being sold from the food supply office branch of the district.
