Nepal-UK bilateral committee discusses equal pay to ex-Gurkha

By Karun Aryal, London, March 28: Ministerial level meeting was held between government of Nepal and United Kingdom (UK) in London on Wednesday to discuss the demand of Ex-Gurkha.

According to the Embassy of Nepal, the fourth meeting of the bilateral committee established to handle the demands of former Gurkha Soldiers that was organised at the British Ministry of Defense was focused on pension.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the the Nepali Embassy in London Roshan Khanal informed that the main focus of the meeting was related to pension and appraisal of the previous bilateral meeting.  

Presenting various evidences related to the demand of equitable pension Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Gyan Chandra Acharya, emphasized that positive decisions taken in the past should be taken as a base of evidences while addressing the demand of ex-Gurkhas.   

He urged for long term solution to the demands of ex-Gurkhas. 

Joint Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Europe America Division Ganesh Prasad Dhakal said that the demand of Ex-gurkhas has been the the top-priority of the government of Nepal.
