89 houses and sheds gutted in 14 fire incidents in a day in Gulmi

By Our Correspondent,Gulmi, Apr. 22: Authorities reported 14 fire incidents from across Gulmi district on Saturday alone. The fire incidents destroyed 41 houses, 48 sheds, a tractor, two crop-grinding mills, a temple and two general shops among others. Similarly, 83 cattle died and nine were injured in those incidents.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Pokharel, information officer of the Gulmi District Police Office, massive damages were reported from Isma Rural Municipality. 

“A fire in Ward No. 2 of Isma gutted 11 houses, 17 sheds, 20 goats, six buffaloes and a calf, a tractor, two mills and two general shops. In another fire in the same ward, six houses, two sheds, a buffalo and three goats were destroyed,” said DSP Pokharel.

Similarly, a fire in Ward No. 4 of Isma destroyed two sheds, a buffalo and nine goats. In another fire in the same ward, 10 houses, 14 sheds, 12 goats, four buffaloes and a temple were gutted.

Likewise, a house was destroyed by fire in Ward No. 6 of Gulmi Darbar Rural Municipality. Similarly, three houses and two sheds in Ward No. 5 and two houses and a shed in Ward No. 9 of Musikot Municipality were turned into ashes.

Likewise, two sheds were destroyed by fire in Ward No. 1 of Malika Rural Municipality. 

In Madane Rural Municipality’s Ward No. 1, five houses and five sheds were destroyed leading to the loss of 10 goats and 12 hens. Five goats in two sheds also died in Ward No. 1 of Chhatrakot Rural Municipality.

An empty house in Ward No. 6 and an empty shed in Ward No. 4 of Dhurkot Rural Municipality were also gutted. Two empty houses in Ward No. 1 of Rurukshetra Rural Municipality also turned into ashes. 

Two injured in Palpa

Palpa district also reported several fire cases on Saturday, and two individuals got injured while trying to extinguish the fire in the district.

Top Bahadur Budha, 55, of Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality was severely injured while trying to extinguish a fire in Siddheshwor region. 

The fire was destroying the houses and sheds of locals Bhariwashwor Pandey and Ramnath Pandey. 

In a separate incident, 65-year-old Purna Bahadur Kammu was injured while trying to extinguish a fire in Ward No. 4 of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality.

The fire incidents have expanded to forest areas in both places and were not brought under control until Sunday afternoon. Likewise, six settlements in Kapilvastu caught fire simultaneously on Saturday. 

According to our Kapilvastu correspondent, the police and locals had to struggle hard to bring the fire spread in Shuddhodhan, Mayadevi and Ashodhara Rural Municipalities. 

The fire destroyed over 50 houses and sheds in Kaapilvastu. It is said that the fire spread from the wheatstalks, which were left in the field after harvesting wheat.
